ACRS Attorney Referral was established in 1987 in Clearwater, Florida by Judge Edward Fogle and his retiring Law Clerk Maradene Givens Arnold. The goal of the Attorney Referral was to provide consumers with a comprehensive resource for assistance in hiring an attorney with a proven track record in specific areas of practice, and to have access to the recommended attorney's background, experience, court visibility and fee structure. ACRS follows an established, time-honored referral process today, providing a personal consultation with a referral specialist and offering panel members who, in some cases, have been recommended for over 20 years. We also provide a broad range of additional resources for the consumer for situations that may not necessarily require an attorney to resolve. Our commitment is one of public service in a complicated world, when legal resources are critically needed for many issues facing individuals and families in modern trying situations.

Use of the ABA Lawyer Referral and Information Service logo indicates that this lawyer referral program has been reviewed by the ABA and meets specific public service standards established by the ABA. ABA approved lawyer referral programs:
• Agree to establish and maintain objective experience requirements for their panel attorneys,
• Provide a mechanism for client feedback and for resolving client complaints,
• Do not limit the number of attorneys who may join the Lawyer Referral and Information Service, provided that they meet the objective requirements for panel membership,
• Require and verify that all panel attorneys carry legal malpractice insurance.
